Portugal is the safest country in the European Union and the third in the world
In a statement sent to the newsrooms, the ministry tutored by Eduardo Cabrita highlights that in the report of the Institute for Economics & Peace, with about 100 pages and released this Wednesday (June 10), Portugal appears in the third position "just behind Iceland and New Zealand".
"The significant steps that Portugal has taken in recent years in terms of security have allowed the reduction of crime and, consequently, the gradual and consolidated rise in this ranking", reinforces the note.
In 2014, Portugal occupied the eighteenth place in the Global Peace Index, having reached the third position in 2019.
